Some 82 full-page plates, 11 pages of notes, and a 7-page paper make up this presentation of an exhibition sponsored by the German airline Lufthansa in cooperation with the Soviet Association of Architects. None of the projects claims to be more than a conceptual statement. These projects are not for building; they deal with poetry, not the housing shortages or the other responsibilities of the USSR's architectural bureaucratic establishment. As with most paper architecture, these exercises represent, with spectacular graphics, all the postmodernists' mannerisms currently floating about. Little information is given about the architect-artists. All the projects are recent; the exhibition was held in 1988 and has been traveling in the US. Good fun, beautiful images, something to stretch the imagination of students in architecture. -P. J. Mitarachi, Boston Architectural Center
